Japanese Compulsory Automobile Insurance (JCI)

JCI (insurance) is required by Japanese Law.

This insurance covers bodily injury or death of the other party, for which you are legally liable.

Remember, Japanese Law is very strict. You must buy JCI not only to drive but, also to have your automobile registered or inspected.

At PIT STOP we provide this insurance with each initial purchase of a vehicle.

We also can assist you with renewal of your JCI policy.

PI (Personal Injury Liability Coverage)

This coverage pays amount in excess of JCI coverage, for bodily injury or death of the other party, for which you are legally liable. The driver and passengers are covered by this insurance.

This insurance coverage is mandatory for United States Forces Agreement (SOFA), Japan personnel (the minimum required coverage is ￥30,000,000).

PD (Property Damage Liability Coverage)

This coverage pays for property damage of the other party, for which you are legally liable.

This coverage is also mandatory for SOFA personnel (the minimum coverage required is ￥3,000,000).
